STALLION SERVICE SALE
The BHAM Stallion Service Sale (SSS) is a great way for Stallion Owners to promote their stallions and for Mare Owners to get a discount on the listed breeding fee, promote the get of the mare and stallion, and show the foal in the Stallion Service Sale Classes at the Moonlight Breeders Futurity as a weanling and yearling. If the foal is Grulla, Dun, Red Dun or Buckskin then you can also show it in the BHAM Futurity classes. Of course any color that a breeder gets may be shown in the All American Buckskin Horse Congress which is held in conjunction with the Futurity.
HOW THE “SSS” WORKS
A Stallion Owner donates their stallion to the BHAM SSS. BHAM then offers the stallion’s breeding to the Mare Owners for as low as 50% and no higher than 60% of the advertised breeding fee, plus an additional $75. The money from the mare owner goes into the BHAM SSS fund to be held for the payback awards for the SSS classes. The additional $75 that we charge goes toward advertising the donated stallions in various horse magazines.
“Mail-in bids” are accepted on January 15th of the breeding year. If two or more bids are received on the same stallion, the service will go to the highest bidder. In the event of equal bids, the Mare Owners will be contacted and offered the opportunity to raise or withdraw their bid. If a stallion’s breeding does not sell the Stallion Owner has the opportunity to buy back the breeding which allows them to show the weanling that is born in the spring of the following year in both the Mare Owner and Stallion Owner classes at the Futurity in the fall.
