All American Buckskin Horse Congress

ALL AMERICAN BUCKSKIN HORSE CONGRESS The premier event that BHAM hosts each year is the All American Buckskin Horse Congress held each fall at MSU Pavilion in East Lansing, Michigan (www.msu.edu/~pavilion). This year the dates are October 1-4. Three ABRA judges are hired to judge this three and a half day show hailing exhibitors and horses not only from Michigan but from all over the U.S. to include Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Canada. Both ABRA and All Color classes are offered. Thursday night begins with a “Trail Extravaganza” starting with the “Roye Meis Trail Ride-Off” where the top two BHAM exhibitors of each division from the BHAM show circuit ride it out for the championship title. The “Trail Extravaganza” continues with trail classes in each division. Friday is chock full of the best halter horses in the country from weanling to aged classes. Longe Line classes complete the day for Congress and then the BHAM Moonlight Breeder’s Futurity takes center stage as breeders from all over the country show off their weanling babies through three year olds. Saturday night an “Exhibitor’s Dinner” is provided, free to all Congress exhibitors and participants. You will find several treasures in the Silent Auction hosted by Jr. BHAM to raise funds for the Jr. BHAM Scholarship Fund. Sunday, time is taken out for some BHAM Family business during the lunch break when the Saddle winners are presented their saddles, the Jr. BHAM Representative winner performs her horsemanship ride and the Jr. BHAM Scholarship winner is announced. This year we are adding the winner of the BHAM Groom & Groomette Award. Our Congress photographer, Tim Finnegan Photography, takes beautiful photos used by many in their promotional ads.
